EVALUTING TEMPORAL AND BIOCHEMICAL VARIABLES IN SIGHT-THREATENING DIABETIC RETINOPATHY

This research took place at AL-Sader Medical City's labs and AL-Furat AL-Awsat Hospital, under the Najaf Al-Ashraf Health Directorate / Ministry of Health, Iraq, in the province of Najaf, during the period from January 2025 to January 2026. Blood samples were collected from a total of 120 patients, divided into three groups: patients with diabetic retinopathy and diabetic patient only . An additional control group of healthy individuals 60 was included for comparison total all 180 sample. All samples were handled and processed according to standard laboratory procedures , ranging in age from 40 to 69 years. Of these, 60 patients have retinopathy, which can be either proliferative or non-proliferative and can cause bleeding in the eye. Additionally, 60 patients do not have retinopathy but infected with diabetic mellitus , and 60 patients make up another group contrasted with sixty healthy individuals and control subjects. Diabetic retinopathy It has huge social and economic implications and is still a major cause of blindness in people [1]. Working age and the elderly around the of new biomarkers beyond non-specific indicators such as (Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily A1 (TNFRSF1A) and Hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (HETE12).
