Abstract

This study provides valuable findings and evidence Within the prevalence and characteristics of C. neoformans in patients with respiratory and pulmonary diseases at Marjan Teaching Hospital in Babylon, Iraq. This study highlights the marked male dominance in infection rates and the potential significant influence of male sex hormones on immune responses, as testosterone likely increases susceptibility to infection. Furthermore, the study highlights the important role of differential media, such as CDA, in identifying pathogens and the role of urease activity in recognizing C. neoformans. Given the significant and growing concerns about antifungal resistance, continuous monitoring of C. neoformans strains and their antifungal susceptibility patterns remains critical and essential.
